Increased awareness, skill-building, and open dialogue are the building blocks for our seminars.
Diversity & Inclusion Training
Although many people support the goal of creating a diverse and inclusive environment, they often lack the tools and skills to realize these goals. We help people to both understand what diversity and inclusion are and how they each affect day-to-day interactions. By exploring actions and behaviors that sometimes undermine a meritocracy, organizations gain the awareness necessary to promote a more inclusive work environment.
We craft seminars, discussions and coaching sessions that facilitate constructive learning and avoid finger-pointing. We design inter-active seminars that link diversity and inclusion to business strategies, enhance understanding of diversity principles, and provide techniques for working effectively across difference. As a result, everyone leaves with specific information, tools, and action steps to help make full diversity and inclusion a reality in their organization or law firm.
Awareness & Skill-Building
We design and deliver seminars for people at different levels of a law firm or organization. What follows is a sampling of the some of the types of training seminars we design.
Employee Seminars
We help participants understand fundamental diversity principles and distinguish between the concepts of diversity and inclusion. This seminar uses interactive exercises to engage participants in a discussion of what makes them, or their colleagues, feel like insiders or outsiders (included or excluded) in the workplace. Participants leave with a greater level of awareness of what they can do to promote a greater sense of inclusion for everyone long after the seminar is over.
Managerial and Leadership Seminars
Working with and managing people who are different is increasingly part of every leader's work responsibilities. Yet maintaining a culture of respect and inclusion can sometimes be challenging. This seminar is designed to help executives, partners, practice group heads and other leaders who manage people learn how to develop cross-cultural competencies and implement diversity and inclusion initiatives by building inclusive work environments.
Using video, small group discussions, and paired exercises, we help participants enhance their confidence and competence in interacting across a wide range of differences. Leaders practice giving candid feedback, especially across difference, and leave with improved strategies for mentoring and developing a diverse pool of talent.
Summer Associate Seminars
Designed for summer associates joining the organization, this seminar helps them understand key diversity concepts and principles and many of the other learning points imparted in all-employee seminars. By learning how to be an ally, for themselves as well as for others, participants begin to identify ways they can be proactive in promoting and managing their own careers as well as shaping the firm's culture rather than seeing themselves as bystanders.
